At Deo, we fight food insecurity

In LA County, South Los Angeles — our current outreach program — 37% of households live without the guarantee of fresh, healthy, affordable food.
Many neighborhoods, such as Westmont, are directly separated from grocers by highways and major arterials, making it dangerous if not impossible to walk even a short distance to obtain healthy food.
Income in these neighborhoods falls around $44,000, making it difficult if not impossible to afford regular access to a car and fuel, on top of other LA expenses and dependents.
At Deo we hope to alleviate the effects of urban sprawl and food insecurity in low-income neighborhoods by reducing their reliance on insufficient sources of healthy food while giving them options to more easily obtain it.

Our Mission

Deo's mission lies in the belief that no geography, economic status, or neighborhood should obstruct hard-working families from the food and life they deserve.

For too long, from the rural Mississippi Delta to Hollywood, gaping chasms of food insecurity have spread across America.

There are years of work to be done; in the meantime, however, Deo will work tirelessly to give LA residents in food deserts options, information, and results concerning their access to healthy food.
